Tradition Informed by Physiology

Training at Cape Fear Combat Arts is rooted in the Indonesian martial art  Silat Buka Lingkaran and shaped by modern understanding of anatomy, movement science, and human performance. As a certified SBL instructor, NASM-CPT, and registered nurse, I apply principles of structural balance, joint integrity, and progressive overload to ensure that every session builds capacity safely and deliberately.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Cape Fear Combat Arts different from other personal training facilities?

Cape Fear Combat Arts stands out for its blend of science and tradition.  Combining modern exercise science with the discipline and skills of traditional martial arts into a hybrid in-person and online personal training program.

Do I have to come to a specific facility to train? Do I need any special equipm

In short, no. I will come to you for 1:1 assessments and sessions. Your program will be designed to help you optimize your health and fitness regardless of what equipment you do (or don't) have.

How are martial arts integrated into this program?

Many of the exercises are based off of the traditional postures and transitions between postures found in the indonesian martial art Silat, namely kucing (cat), buyaya (crocodile), kura-kura (turtle) and harimau (tiger). You will also find kick-boxing and brazillian Jiu-jitsu influence as well.

Do you offer group classes or only one-on-one training sessions?

We offer both. Group online fitness sessions are easier to fit into day to day schedules. For those that want or need more 1:1 training to meet specific goals or challenges we offer that as well.
