At Cape Fear Combat Arts, we use the OPT™ (Optimum Performance Training) model from the National Academy of Sports Medicine to ensure your training progresses safely and intentionally.
The model moves through three stages:
Stabilization → Strength → Power.
But the foundation is always control.
We begin by improving joint stability, balance, and movement quality. Many chronic aches — knees, low back, shoulders — are not the result of damage, but of instability and compensation. Before adding load or intensity, we correct those patterns.
Once your structure is sound, we build strength.
Only after strength is established do we layer in speed or explosive work.
You are never pushed ahead of what your body can support.
Each stage prepares you for the next.
Nothing is skipped. Nothing is forced.
The goal isn’t to wear you down.
It’s to make you harder to injure.

Traditional Martial Arts
Silat Buka Lingkaran (SBL) is a Southeast Asian martial art built around circular, adaptive movement. Its name translates to “Open Circle”, reflecting both the continuous flow of its techniques and the personal journey of each practitioner.
At its core, SBL teaches how to move with control, fluidity, and responsiveness:

These principles develop coordination, body awareness, and adaptability under real-world conditions — not just in the gym or dojo.
SBL Fit translates these martial principles into a conditioning-focused program. It distills the art into movements designed to build strength, mobility, and resilience safely and efficiently — without requiring full martial application.
